Well the snow is falling again outside but it is warm indoors, the fire burns bright and a hot tea awaits. It is all happening this week! Tomorrow we have pancake day, followed by Ash Wednesday and then on Thursday Valentine’s Day of Love is shared with the renowned V Day and One Billion Rising!
‘V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery’. ‘V-Day dreams of a world in which women and girls will be free to thrive, rather than merely survive’.
One Billion Rising is: ‘ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers, our solidarity across borders’.
I felt it was important to raise this important date with you all – 14th February – because conception, pregnancy and birth is the most amazing part of being a woman. We have the choice whether we want to create new life inside our body, if nature complies which is really quite miraculous. We certainly need the male component but we have an extraordinary ability to co-create new life. This is very powerful! And although conception, pregnancy and birth is not always easy for women, for many different reasons, I felt it was a week worthy of celebrating.
So let us love ‘ourselves’ this week and celebrate being fabulous women!!! Whether you are trying to conceive, are pregnant, about to give birth, a mother (parent) or a WOMAN, let us join together and celebrate our uniqueness with pride and joy!
Exercise:
Self Celebrations!
(Mainly for women – but men are also welcome to do this exercise)
List 10 things every day this week (and hereafter) that you think you’ve done really well. This could be taking some time out to relax during a busy day, standing up to the boss, expressing yourself clearly, noticing the beauty of your favourite flower, winning first prize, getting an upgrade and so on. Anything, however big or small and seemingly simple, that you feel is some kind of self achievement. The more you do this the more the list will grow and you will begin to experience yourself as a creator.
I know this can be challenging for a lot of women because we are raised in a society which says it is not good to brag or be full of ourselves, especially women. Then we get to secondary school and beyond and have to learn how to do ‘self assessments’ where we have to ‘sing our praises’! Why don’t we just sing our praises from the beginning and love every big or small achievement we do or have done. Why not start now and see your abundance grow.
The have a break and Dance to your favourite music ‘like nobody’s watching’! Whatever you are doing at whatever time of day, just have a dance break! Yayyy.
Enjoy your week and let us join together and celebrate being the fabulous women we are!
Much love,
Alex xx
