I woke up this morning and thought PLAY! Whether you are pregnant, desiring conception, have children of various ages already, today is the day (or week) to play. And this is for fathers/partners too! If you live in the UK you will probably have snow. Yes we have the white stuff at last and what a good chance to take advantage of it and let your inner child out to play. (If you don’t live in the UK and don’t have snow then perhaps we can adapt to something that suits your location).
I decided that it was too risky to drive my son to school so he is having a day off. We have decided to go sledging, build a snowman and try out one of his recipes which requires a marinade…yum, yum, can’t wait! Last night we ran around the garden in bare feet in the snow and jumped on the trampoline and tried to see how long we could last. Shrieks of laughter filled the air as we skipped about not wanting to stay still for more than a second in case our feet froze…it was so fun! Life is too precious not to have those moments of fun that you used to have when you were a child. So, throw caution to the wind and go have some FUN!
If you have children or not, get ready to play in the snow (or sun, sea, sand, park, or even work!!!). See if today or this week you can let your inner child come out to play. No inhibition, no feeling silly and self conscious, just give yourself permission to go for it. Please do take care if you are pregnant of any slippery ice or snow.
You could build a snowman / snow woman, snow ‘thing’, snow sculpture, snow house, snow balls and have a game with someone. You could dance in the snow, twirling around like a snow queen! Go for a walk and look at all the leaves, spiders webs, icicles up close and marvel at their beauty. Go sledging if you are not pregnant (or do what you feel is appropriate). If being in nature is not possible then try some indoor activities instead. Build a log fire (if you have this facility), bake your favourite cake or biscuits and decorate them how ‘you’ like. Build a camp, go for a picnic, go swimming, build sandcastles, walk in nature, make things….get arty n crafty!
Or….if you have some poster paints (or any kind of water based paint) go outside to the snow….and start squirting the paint in the snow and make patterns. Or you can mix individual pots of paint with water and flick it in the snow a bit like the artist Jackson Pollock. It is so fun to let go and squirt, fling, make patterns, whatever your inner child fancies, in the pure white snow…Below is one I tried earlier and a pregnant show mother!
Have a great day and week and HAVE FUN!
Warm wishes,
Alex xx
